David Jou |  SCIENCE

David Jou (Sitges, Catalonia, 1953) is a physicist and a poet. He has been full professor of Condensed Matter Physics at the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona until he retired in 2018. His research deals with non-equilibrium thermodynamics and statistical physics. He has published three-hundred research papers and six books, amongst which Extended irreversible thermodynamics, in collaboration with Profs. G Lebon from Liege and J Casas-Vazquez from Barcelona. As a poet in Catalan language he has published twenty-five books, dealing with science, religion, cinema, politics, arts and travels. Amongst his titles we may mention Les escriptures de l’univers (Poemes sobre ciència), Poemes sobre ciència i fe, Poemes de Nadal i de Setmana Santa and Cant espiritual. He has published ten essays on science, religion and humanities, as for instance Déu, cosmos, caos (Horitzons del diàleg entre ciència i religió), La poesia de l’infinit (ciència i mística), Cerebro y universo (dos cosmologías), El laberint del temps, Matèria i materialisme, Introducción al mundo cuántico, y Reescribiendo el Génesis (de la gloria de Dios al sabotaje del universo). He is a member of the Institut d’Estudis Catalans (Barcelona), the Reial Acadèmia Europea de Doctors (Barcelona), and a correspondent member of the Real Academia de Ciencias Exactas, Físicas y Naturales de Madrid, and of the Accademia Peloritana di Messina, and current president of the Fundació Joan Maragall (Cristianisme i cultura).
