Innocence – Literary
“…in the integrity of my heart and innocence of my hands have I done this. Genesis 20:5
“The heart of the wise is in the house of mourning; but the heart of fools is in the house of mirth” Ecclesiastes 7:4 King James Version.
In my view the “wise” embodies the “virtue”; and “fools” innocence.
Two novels by American writer Edith Wharton come to rescue:
